Analysis of an Effective magazine front cover 1

Below I am going to analyse this film magazine front covers and look at some of the ideas and layouts which could be copied and make my product look like a quality product. For my analysis I will be looking at film magazine front covers from the mosat popular film magazines that are availible now these are Total Film and Empire.

The first film magazine front cover analysis has been created by the film magazine company Total film and they are advetising for the film Max Payne.




The second magazine front cover that I am going to analyse mainly promotes for the film spiderman and has been created by the film magazine Empire.























The third magazine front cover is again taken from the magazine empire but this front cover is mainly advertising for the film X-men.



From my analysis of these front covers a few effective techniques that I have seen which I could copy are:

• The use of a barcode
• the use of an image background that is slightly faded or one shade compared to the main Image
• The main image should really be a mid shot or a close up
• The writing around the edge should change regularly e.g.font colour,style
• The name of the film should be clear
• The font coulour should stand out from the background
• The company name should be at the top behind the main image and should be the biggest font on the page.
